Eight members of the University of Florida gymnastics team were named Wednesday to the 2007-08 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll by league commissioner Mike Slive. The 2007-08 SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2007 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.

It was not a surprise that Marreese Speights declared for the NBA Tuesday and it shouldn’t be a surprise whether he stays in the draft or comes back to Florida. Unlike a lot of kids that declare for early entry to the NBA Speights is surrounded by good people who have no personal agenda. Jonathan Pigott (Ormond Beach, Fla.) delivered a tie-breaking two-out RBI single in the seventh inning to lift No. 21 Florida (22-10) to a 5-3 victory over North Florida (18-14) on Tuesday. The Gators overcame a 3-0 deficit with three runs in the third and used Pigott's single to even the series with the Ospreys.
