ADs vote down early signing

DESTIN --- There will be no early signing period in the Southeastern Conference after all. Friday morning, the SEC’s 12 athletic directors listened to a proposal by the football coaches to initiate an early signing period but after debating the pros and cons, the athletic directors voted against it.

Pahokee receiver gives Gators their fifth commit

Nu'Keese Richardson is a Florida Gator. The Pahokee HS standout they call Pete after FSU's Peter Warrick has decided he wanted to be a Gators and announced to a crowd at his high school this afternoon. The Gators just got faster and more elusive on offense in a recruiting class that is really starting to take shape.

Tulane Defeats Baseball, 7-4, In NCAA Opener

Down 4-1 entering the seventh inning, third-seeded Tulane (38-20-1) erupted for six runs on six hits during the frame to post a 7-4 victory over second-seeded Florida (34-23) on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. Senior Jon Townsend belted a two-run homer for the Gators.

After a sensational spring game performance in which he led the Pahokee Blue Devils to a win over Palm Beach Dwyer Thursday night, Nu’Keese Richardson will turn his attention to where he’s going to school next year. The electric 5-10, 180-pounder will make a public announcement of his college commitment Friday at 3 p.m.

Carter has serious ties to Gainesville

Saying that Michael Carter has family ties to Gainesville is an understatement. Both of Carter’s grandparents on his father’s side were born in Gainesville and his grandmother on his mother’s side resides in Gainesville. His ties to Gainesville have helped him build a close relationship with the football program at the University of Florida.

Softball loses opening game to Cajuns

OKLAHOMA CITY – It’s hard to root against the Cinderella team. Unless, of course, you are playing against an unseeded team that knocked off a pair of higher-seeded teams to reach the Women’s College World Series. Make that three giants slain by the La.-Lafayette softball team.
