University of Florida forward/center Marreese Speights was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, using the 16th overall pick. Speights became the 10th Gator to become a first round NBA pick, the eighth under head coach Billy Donovan.

Urban Meyer has made no secret of the fact he wants to field the fastest team in the country every single year so speed is priority number one when he hits the recruiting trail. Byran Jones is living proof that work ethic and a strong will pay off handsomely. The 6-3, 310-pound offensive lineman from Jacksonville Forrest, who begins Summer B classes at the University of Florida next week, reported to Gainesville today a good 20-25 pounds lighter than he was at this time last year. Given the task of losing weight and getting stronger, Jones put his mind to the task and not only turned in a tremendous senior season but earned a Florida football scholarship as well.
