Matt LaPorta was named to the 2008 United States Olympic Baseball team on Wednesday. LaPorta joins
Brad Wilkerson, who earned a gold medal in the Sydney Summer Games in 2000, as Gators who have been chosen to represent the Red, White and Blue on the Olympic Baseball team.

With Gary Brown already on board at defensive tackle, the Florida Gators were looking to possibly sign one more defensive tackle. One of the players who had a chance to fill that spot was Antwan Lowery, but the Miami native has eliminated the Gators from his list, at least for the time being.
