HOOVER, AL --- My how times have changed for Urban Meyer. When he took the podium at Southeastern Conference Media Days in July 2005, he had so few playmakers that he knew it would take a whole lot of smoke and an equal number of mirrors to get his offense through an SEC season. As he gets ready for year four, Meyer might have more capable playmakers at his disposal than any coach in the country and if the Florida Gators aren’t the fastest team in the nation, they belong on a very short list.

Heisman Trophy quarterback Tim Tebow and the electric Percy Harvin have their large and excited followings, but Ajagbe’s favorite Gator is Chris Rainey, whose spring game performance excited the Gator Nation and a national television audience on ESPN.

No Respect!
Who could blame Steve Addazio if he broke into his best Rodney Dangerfield impersonation after scanning the preseason All-SEC team selected by the Southeastern Conference coaches? First teamers? Nada. How about second teamers? Nope. Third teamers? Jim Tartt and Phil Trautwein were picked. A pair of third teamers is better than none at all, but considering what the Florida offensive line did last year, this is definitely a case of no respect.

Cornileus won’t forget The Swamp
Tyrone Cornileus had been to The Swamp a number of times but never until Friday Night Lights did he understand what it’s like to run out of the tunnel and hear that familiar “Heeeeeeeeere come the Gators!” blasting out over the PA system. In that one moment, Cornileus transformed from spectator to actual player and it’s something he won’t forget anytime soon.
