Great Expectations: Tight ends, fullbacks

In his previous stints at Bowling Green and Utah, Urban Meyer rarely used the fullback and tight end positions but just as he said when he arrived, the offense is in constant evolution. In year one, the fullback became part of the offense. In year two, the tight end became a viable weapon. Now in year four, the Gators have a crew of tight ends and fullbacks that are capable of handling whatever the big, strong and fast SEC defenses can throw at them. From their use as extra blockers to providing pass catching targets that can carve up the middle of the field, Florida’s fullbacks and tight ends have earned their place on the field. The Gators have have six very capable athletes at the two positions that could all play a role in the offense for 2008.

Mr. Robinson’s new neighborhood

Denard Robinson came to Florida’s Friday Night Lights showcase hoping to separate himself from the rest of the quarterbacks in the 2009 class. While the dual-threat quarterback thinks he performed well, no one knows for sure just how much he impressed the Gators’ coaching staff.
